new books, "one more chance" and mac bazaar. 11.24.2007
here are my new november books:
"moral disorder" by margaret atwood, a collection of short stories
"middlesex" by jeffrey eugenides, which i finished yesterday at the new wing's starbucks. the book almost broke my heart - i hate reading about old people dying. anyway, it's about cal stephanides, a hermaphrodite who was raised as a girl but actually has XY chromosomes. his grandparents were 3rd cousins and at the same time siblings, and his parents were 2nd cousins, thus resulting in his genetic abnormality.
"the once and future king" by t.h. white, which i bought because jessica zafra's always writing about it
"the inheritance of loss"by kiran desai, which i am going to read when i finish the book i'm currently pursuing
"twisted travels" by jessica zafra, which i decided to finish reading first since it's the shortest.
but right now, i'm reading "it's kind of a funny story" by ted vizzini (which i bought yesterday and is not, obviously, in the photo above). it's about this fifteen year old boy who finds himself in a mental hospital after wanting to jump off brooklyn bridge.
i read the most during my junior year in high school, then college arrived and i had this book drought for a year. but now i've rediscovered my love for books. it's the reason i haven't been out a lot lately. most of my conversations go like this:
"where were you last weekend?", someone asks. "i was at home, reading", i always reply.
and oh i watched "one more chance" last night! hahahaha which i almost slept through, by the way. i don't understand what the big fuss about that movie is. if the characters in the movie were real, i would hunt them down and kill them. and the minor characters! maja's english is blah, the pregnant friend always spoke in this soft, motherly tone which almost drove me nuts, and that girl who won pinoy big brother is just plain annoying.
and before i forget, support the M.A.C. holiday bazaar at ayala! i was there yesterday - "the first customer", anna maris said - and i got this edwin ao polo for a fraction of what it would have originally cost. sam was just there a few hours ago and she got 2 vania romoff dresses for 2000 pesos. you have to pay 50 bucks to get in, but all the proceeds go to charity.
the bazaar's ending tomorrow, and it's located across rai rai ken.
